Create Lyrics

Part I

 

31.    Now we want the 1st line to disappear as the 2nd line starts to highlight. Move the cursor pointer to the first word "AND". When it turns to ,   click on it to make the curosr snaps to it

32.    Select the 1st line events, both normal and highlighted versions by clicking the highlighted version first, then Ctrl-click the normal version, then group them together.

Click Edit/Group/Create New

33.    Move the cursor pointer to the end of the 1st line event, when it turns to , click-hold and drag to the right until it reaches the word "AND" of the 2nd line.

The result should be similar as below.

34.    Now we need to add the 2nd line. The 1st and 2nd line should be displayed on the screen at the same time.

Move the location bar to 00:00:05:00, then click Video Track 3 to select it.

35.    Click Insert, then Text Media...

36.    Select Karaoke Bottom Highlight

37.    Then type in "AND YOUR FACE WHEN YOU WERE LEAVING". The 2nd line will show below the 1st line.

38.    We will add the normal version of the 2nd line. Click Video Track 4 to select it

39.    Click Insert, then Text Media...

40.    Select Karaoke Bottom Normal from Preset

41.    Type in "AND YOUR FACE WHEN YOU WERE LEAVING".  You will not see the normal version on the screen.  All you see is the highlight version of it.

42.     Select both the 2nd line's normal and highlighted version events.

Click Edit/Group/Create New to group both events together.

43.    Move the cursor pointer to the end of the 2nd line event, when it turns to , click-hold and drag to the right until it reaches the 1st word of the 3rd line.  This will make the 2nd line disappeared as the 3rd line starts to highlight.

The result should be similar as below.

44.    Now we are ready to create the highlight effect for the 2nd line. Click (Event FX) on the highlight version event of the 2nd line, Video Track 3.

45.    Select Sonic Foundry Cookie Cutter, then click

46.    Move the cursor to the start point of the 2nd line event at: 00:00:05:00

47.    Select Karaoke Bottom from Preset.

      

48.    Move the cursor pointer to the first word "AND" of the 2nd line. When it turns to ,   click on it to make the cursor snaps to it

49.    Set Border = 0.01 to show the yellow square outline. Move the Size slider to the right until the yellow square's right edge in front of the word "AND" . Keyframe is added automatically.

Set Border = 0.00 to hide the yellow square outline.

50.    Do the same for the rest of the 2nd line's words. The result should be similar as below.

 

51.    To highlight the last word "LEAVING", we need to add one more marker.  Click , listen and note the location where the word "EVENING" ended.  Move cursor pointer to that location and click to set the cursor. Press M to add a marker, and press ENTER key.

52.    Move the Size slider to the right until the word "LEAVING" is highlighted.

 

53.    Click the last Keyframe.

Move the Size's slider to the right all the way.

54.    Click to move the location bar to 00:00:00:00.  Click to see your work.

55.    Now we will add the 3rd line to the Timeline at the end of the 1st line Event. Click anywhere inside the 1st line Event, and it will be selected.

56.   To go the end of the Event, you have 2 options:

       1.   Hold Ctrl + Alt and click the Right arrow to go to the end of the 1st line Event. (The Event have to be selected first)

       2.   Move the cursor pointer to the first word "AND". When it turns to ,   click on it to make the cursor snaps to it

57.    Click Insert, then Text Media...

58.    Select Karaoke Top Highlight

59.    Type in "BUT I GUESS THAT JUST THE WAY", then press Enter key

60.    We will now add the normal version of the 3rd line.  Select Video Track 2 by clicking on it.

61.    Click Insert, then Text Media...

62.    Select Karaoke Top Normal

63.    Type in "BUT I GUESS THAT JUST THE WAY", then press Enter key

On the Preview Monitor, you will see only the highlighted version.

64.    Select both the normal and the highlighted version of the 3rd line's Events, then press G to group it. Click on the edge of the Event and drag to where the word "GOES" ended.

65.    Click (Event FX) on the highlighted version event.

66.    Select Sonic Foundry Cookie Cutter, then click

67.    Move the cursor to the beginning of the highlighted 3rd line's event by clicking the word "AND"

68.    Select Karaoke Top from Preset

69.    The keyframe must be at the far left as shown below.  Don't change anything yet.

   

70.    Click on the word "BUT"

71.    Set Border = 0.01, then move the Size slider to the right until the yellow square's right edge in front of the word "BUT"

Set Border = 0.00 to hide the yellow square outline.

72.    Do the same for the rest of the 3rd line's words.  The result should be similar as below.

 

73.    To highlight the last word "WAY", click the word "THE"

Move the Size slider until the word "WAY" highlighted.

  

74.    Now we will add the 4th line at the end of the 2nd line. First we will add the highlighted version. Click on the word "BUT".

75.    Select Video Track 3 by clicking as shown below.

76.     Click Insert, then Text Media...

77.    Select Karaoke Bottom Highlight

78.    Then type in "THE STORY GOES".

  

79.    Now we will add the normal version of it.  Select Video Track 4

80.    Click Insert, then Text Media...

81.    Select Karaoke Bottom Normal from Preset

82.    Then type in "THE STORY GOES".  You will see only the highlighted version

  

83.    Select both the normal and highlighted version of the 4th line's events. Press G to group them together. Click on the edge, then drag to the right until they snap to the grid as show below (At the end of the song)

84.    The 3rd and the 4th lines should end at the same time. 

Click (Event FX) on the highlighted version event of the 4th line.

85.    Select Sonic Foundry Cookie Cutter, then click

86.    Click the word "BUT"

87.    Select Karaoke Bottom from Preset.

88.    Click the word "THE"

89.    Set Border = 0.01, then move the Size slider until the yellow bar in front of the word "THE"

Set Border = 0.00

90.    Do the same for rest of the words. The result should be similar as below.

   

91.    Click as shown to set the cursor at the end of the event.

92.    Move the Size slider all the way to the right.

93.    Click to set the cursor at 00:00:00:00, then click

94.    Now we will make the 3rd and 4th lines gradually disappeared.  Move the cursor at 00:00:19:00

95.    Move the cursor pointer to the top right corner of the 3rd line's event. When it turns to , click and drag to the left to the cursor.

The result should be similar to below

100.    Do the same for all tracks.

Click to see the top and bottom line fading out gradually.
